COVID-19 : the down and dirty

The reality behind being a bedside RN currently is that we don't have the right protection. Experiencing this first hand has made me and many others lose sleep and have increase anxiety. I understand that you may be anxious at home and are unsure if you will have a job but these nurses are literally risking their lives from being exposed, and knowingly. Let that sink in, because you read it and it just seems nonchalant but literally their LIFE is on the line. Someone you know. Everyone KNOWS a nurse.  It is not within  our nature to be callous and not give comfort to those going through something traumatic. We are supposed to “limit” our time in the rooms of patients who are possible or confirmed Covid-19 patients; this isn’t possible. We cannot do our job efficiently and up to our (or the hospitals/or the public’s) standards with spending “limited” time in the rooms. What happens when the patient is panicking because they feel they can’t breath and I, THEIR NURSE, needs...

Ramble Ramble

It's been a long time my friends. (I think I lead every blog with that - whoops.) This post is just going to be ALL over the place. I am going to just jump from topic to topic and probably back to another - because thats how my head works.  First and foremost... As always, online dating. I honestly don't even know if I like talking to guys anymore because they just disappoint. Some of the men I hav I she talked to just talk about how they want a relationship - yet put no effort into getting to know me as a person. Cool bro - see ya. You just start to expect the same thing from the dudes. I'm at the point that I am burnt out that I don't even want to meet the guys anymore because it seems like a waste of my time, sadly.       I understand that this may sound like I am terrible and blah blah blah. It definitely would take someone special to grab my attention. And this is only ONLINE dating. If I met someone in person and we hit it off - I enjoyed his com...

The toughest thing faced so far as a nurse

It's been awhile since I've posted on here. Not really for any particular reason. Mostly, I've just been busy and free time has been spent doing other things. My bad ya'll.  I've been a bedside RN for a little over 3 years and have grown to love my job. Ever since I went to counseling I tend to probably OVER analyze or am over grateful for the things in my life. I am not saying thats a bad thing, I have become extremely aware of my emotions and reactions to things and also why people react to things as well. Okay, I am definitely getting off topic.  Last weekend I was working my normal weekend, day shifts. I got particularly close with two families because their loved ones needed some extra cares and I'm not sure I just bonded with them. Anyway, I took over the care of this other patient on Sunday, I had seen this patient and the family throughout the Friday and Saturday due to just being down that hall and what not. I also helped with her a few times. I had...

Gratitude

I often find myself thinking about life and all the wonderful things that I am beyond grateful to have in my life. I also have realized that not everyone is good at noticing or being aware of what they have to be grateful for, which is sad. Yes, life isn't always easy but there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for. The sun is shining. You are having a great hair day. You made it into the house before the rain came. Enjoying snuggling on the couch with your cat.  From a book I am reading "When you are consistently in a state of gratitude, and aware of all the awesomeness that already exists, it, among many other things, makes it much easier for you to believe that there's more awesomeness where that came from, and that this yet-to-be-manifested awesomeness is also available to you. You've received awesomeness before, so of course, you can receive awesomeness again. This is how gratitude strengthens your faith." Being grateful for things; it puts your life i...

Men don't know how to be in a relationship

If you follow my blog at all, or if you know me at all, you know I go on tangent or just let myself go on and on. Well this might turn into that blog.  I have touched many times on the topic of men. Well, I'm going to again. As a disclaimer, I do not think all men suck. I actually have a lot of men in my life who actually are awesome, but they probably would still agree that they are idiots a lot of the time. Maybe if they read this they would be like...oh she's right.  I have dated a few men, I have been on dating apps which has allowed me to for "relationships" (or whatever you want to call them), I have had quite a few ex-boyfriends "come back" and "regret" ending the relationship (not that we need to relive that), have talked to my guy friends about relationships, etc.  Now, I am not dumb. I know guys get hurt too. I am probably biased because I am female and I have seen more females get hurt than men, or we are just better at talking abo...

International Women's Day

I might get a little kick back from this, but I suppose that's what happens when you write your opinion and thoughts.  I think women are the fucking shit. I don't even feel bad for the language. We as a gender have had to go through a ton of crap that just seems like bullcrap that we even had to. We've been overlooked as the weaker sex, but we aren't. Not by a long shot.  However, this is what gets me. There are women out there who are always talking about being independent and they don't need a man. Yet, here they are always having a man do everything for them and/or needing a man at their side. Come on girl, please.   Don't get me wrong, having a man do chivalrous things is not a bad thing, in fact I would even welcome it. But there are woman that expect their man do to everything. The men will wipe off cars covered in snow, do all the lawn work, remove all the snow, etc. But what about the women who have done it alone? Worked their asses off. ...

The Ankle

Image
As many of you know, I broke my left ankle. However, if you don't know, you are in for a real treat: how it happened, the struggles and the hilarious moments thus far.  It all started on a freezing Saturday Morning (Jan. 26th). A group of friends and I annually go to Lake Independence in Long Lake to attend their Ice Golf event. It's always right behind Birches. This year we had a group of about 10. The walk down to the lake was an experience in its own. It was straight up ice, but somehow we managed to get down with no injuries. Candice did fall, but her wipe out was graceful as per usual for her.  We had a blast playing Ice Golf. If you've never heard of it - or never played, you need to. It's like mini golf on ice. You use tennis balls and old golf clubs (or hockey sticks). It's way fun. Plus, at each hole there is usually a sponsor, and  you bring beer.  Look, I could bend my left ankle! I'm cool These beautiful ladies <3 Th...
