Infusion complete
Today...has been a day.
Grace and myself have been having a wonderful day working together. It's been entertaining. She decided that she really wanted to stomp her food on a wooden floor at a concert... can't say I've heard that one before.
We have both decided (okay, well I decided) that we are soul sisters because Grace said "Who is texting me at this hour?" (mind you it was 11:00am). And I do this ALL the time. So, it is now official--soul sisters.
One of our patients is a total flirt. He just wants alcoholic beverages. For example: for lunch he asked Grace for a double vodka martini with two olives. When I was pushing saline into his IV, he said "that better be vodka." He also asked me to sit on his lap to talk... that's not weird at all.
Today, I had to help Tashi manage her life on her cellular device. I had to help her set up her gmail on her phone. And then because she couldn't remember her passwords, we had to set up a whole new Instagram! Clearly, this day is going very well down West hall.
I've been a needy nurse. I will text Grace when she is in a patients room (as a joke for the record) to A) figure out where the beeping is coming from or B) come write this blog with me. So professional huh?
Grace is a nice person, she shared her coffee with me. It tasted like deliciousness. Natalie went down to first floor and got it from Caribou for her, but did she offer to get me one? NOPE. How rude! The drink is called "Breve Vanilla Latte" or aka crack (according to Natalie), and booooooy does it taste good. Lip licking good. I might have to stop and get one on my way home.
Today was the first time, I believe EVER that I have gotten hit, on purpose by pillow by a patient. Like hit by a pillow, like how you would in a pillow fight. By a patient who has been pretty lethargic and out of it.
When a patient was leaving, Grace and I both walked into his room and he says "Well there is Pete and repeat". For some reason, this was hilarious to us.
CHANGE OF SHIFT
I am the QUEEN of placing NG tubes. My coworker, Eunie, asked me to place one. And I did it like a champ. X-ray comes back "the tip of the NG tube falls within the mid stomach". That's right where you want it. So, naturally I had to go tell everyone how awesome I did. Dave wrote me an ovation from Eunie.
However, right before this, I had just crushed meds to put into a g-tube and had filled the medication cups with water and had spilt them all over. I guess you win some and you lose some.
EVE is coming home!!!! It's a girls night!!! Sara, Eve, and Brianna -- Slothy unicorns reunite! And we've allowed Tony to join us. Honorary Sloth. We are going to watch scary movies, have butter beer and SNACKS!!! Because---that was the request of Eve. It's been too long. The last 4 hours have taken forever!!! I was so close to getting my last 4 off, and getting sent home early, but nooooooooo. ** insert eye roll **
